It is hard to imagine a better inauguration of the new scientific discipline Economics and Finance (EiF) at Wrocław Tech. On 19 December 2025, the results of the 9th edition of the Competition for the Award of the Governor of the National Bank of Poland (NBP) for the best doctoral and habilitation theses in the field of economic sciences were announced. Among the 8 laureates, as many as 3 researchers are affiliated with our Department:
🏆 Katarzyna Maciejowska received a distinction and a prize of 20,000 PLN in the category for the best habilitation thesis, for her work entitled “Modeling and forecasting electricity prices“.
🏆 Grzegorz Marcjasz and Bartosz Uniejewski received distinctions and prizes of 10,000 PLN in the category for the best doctoral theses, respectively for their works “Deep learning in point, probabilistic and ensemble forecasting of electricity prices” and “Forecasting wholesale electricity prices to support decision-making in power companies: Use of regularization and forecast combinations”, both written under the supervision of Rafał Weron.
