The first post COVID doctoral defense at the Faculty of Management

On November 22, 2022 (what a date 😉) the first post COVID doctoral defense was held at the Faculty of Management. The lecture room was full! A week later, the Management and Quality Sciences Discipline Council awarded Tomasz Antczak a doctoral degree 👨‍🎓 on the basis of his dissertation entitled Development of an agent-based queuing model and evaluation of the impact of installing self-service checkouts on the efficiency of checkout processes in supermarkets. Congrats!

Special thanks to the reviewers – Bogumił Kamiński and Agnieszka Kowalska-Styczeń, who came to Wrocław and – as the reviewers are expected to do – asked challenging 😱 questions. The third reviewer – Małgorzata Łatuszyńska (the only one on ZOOM) – and guests in the lecture room also fired at the doctoral student. Fortunately, Tomasz coped brilliantly! Thanks also to the Chair of the Doctoral Committee (Bożena Mielczarek) and the auxiliary supervisor (Jacek Zabawa) for their involvement in bringing the whole process to a happy end 😀

A month earlier, on October 11th, 2022, another of the departmental doctoral students has successfully defended his PhD during an on-line defense. Maciej Grunt was awarded a doctoral degree 👨‍🎓 on October 18th, 2022 on the basis of his dissertation entitled Predictive maintenance to evaluate participation of a telecom company in the DSR market. Congrats to Maciej and his supervisor Anna Kowalska-Pyzalska! Thanks to the Chair of the Doctoral Committee (Grzegorz Chodak) for his involvement in bringing the whole process to a happy end 😀
