In March 2026, Arkadiusz Lipiecki visited the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University 🇦🇺 as part of a research stay funded by the NCN MAESTRO CrossFIT grant. We have to admit that we are a little jealous of Arek for spending time on a SMOKE AND VAPE FREE CAMPUS!
During his time in Melbourne, Arek was hosted by Prof. George Athanasopoulos, a leading expert in hierarchical time series forecasting and a pioneer of forecast reconciliation methods (pictured here with his colleague Dr. Shanika Wickramasuriya). Arek’s research focuses on point and probabilistic forecasting of electricity prices, with a particular emphasis on temporal hierarchies. The visit aligns perfectly with the theme of the NCN OPUS THRIFT grant, we launched earlier this year.
Taking the opportunity of being Down Under 🙃, Arek also visited the team of Dr. Mahdi Abolghasemi at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Queensland University of Technology (QUT, Brisbane) 🇦🇺. With a wealth of exotic experiences and new research ideas, Arek is on his looooong journey back home ✈️
