In mid-October Parongama Sen (University of Calcutta, India) visited our Department; you must have ? seen her discussing in room 524 B4. Parongama is co-author of the monograph Sociophysics: An Introduction (2014, Oxford University Press) and numerous articles at the intersection of statistical physics and the social sciences. Her research interests also include phase transitions, critical phenomena and complex networks. At the S3 Seminar she gave a talk entitled Kinetic exchange models of opinion formation: Some realistic applications.
